All SHPE members, Alumni, and other SHPE professionals are more than welcome to attend and invite their friends. Please forward this information to anyone who will be interested in joining us.

Tickets are being sold now, but you can also get them at the entrance before the event.

If you have any pictures from SHPE at any event/gathering/etc… then please let us know. We’d like to get those to show them tomorrow at the banquet. Also, don’t forget that tomorrow we have Día Del Niño Conference with MECHA from 9-12PM so if you’d like to volunteer let us know as well.

Did we mention the Gourmet Buffet? Yes, buffet style! That means lots of good food! So come early because everyone grabs seconds and it could be gone before you know it!

And also, you can’t miss our 1st Engineers got Talent! BCOE Organizations are going to compete to demonstrate who has the best talent! Is it going to be SWE, ACM, IEEE, SHPE, NSBE, SAE, MRS, EWB, ASME, AiChE, BMES, LC…???? Come find out!

 NSBE has gladly extended the invitation to join them for a tour at Ducommun AeroStructures on May 21st, 2010 at 9:30AM.

We will meet in EBU2 parking lot at 7:50AM and leave approximately at 8:00AM.

This is a great opportunity for all engineering majors because they are looking for minorities like us for internship and full-time positions for this year. They will be accepting resumes on-site.

You must be a US citizen to attend.

We will be helping out MECHA with 2 interactive Workshops for 5th graders on Friday, May 21st 2010 from 10:00-AM-12:00PM. Each workshop will be 1 hour.

We need lots of volunteers to wear that nice blue SHPE shirt and inspire kids to become involved in science and engineering.

We did the same a few weeks ago and it was FUN so let’s do this again!

* We will arrive there at around 9:15 so that we have time to get everything organized.

The Entry level IT incumbent will be using their recently acquired technical acumen to test enhancements to our “my verizon” application. This is the application our customers use for self service. It is in both English and Spanish.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree (May/June/July 2010) in Computer Science / Information Systems, Computer Engineering or close equivalent major (3.0gpa+)

Bi-Lingual Spanish

Technical aptitude, including the ability to understand detailed technical information

PC literacy, including working knowledge of desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc.)

Working knowledge of information systems concepts

Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions
Good organizational and problem solving abilities
Good verbal and written communications skills
