She will also be sharing some information with us about what’s going on at the professional chapter which was recently started in the Inland Empire.

Elections for next year’s E-Board will be held very soon. For now, make sure you’re in the list of nominees. There are various ways you can nominate:

This is the positions currently available:

• President – SHPE’s official spokesperson and oversees all functions and activities
• Vice-President – Assists President. Oversees registration and members
• Treasurer – Maintains books and records of all monies received or disbursed
• Secretary – Records meeting attendance and minutes, documents, agendas, etc…
• Internal Affairs – Organizing and running activities that serve student members
• Student Representative – Recruiting, club exposure, promotion, poster board, etc…
• Webmaster – Providing, updating, and maintaining the www.shpeatucr.org website
• Historian – Keeps an accurate account of SHPE’s activities (pictures, materials, etc…)
• External Affairs – Deals with sources, organizations, and contacts outside of SHPE
• Fundraising – Organizes, runs activities that raise funds for SHPE

Important facts:

Elected positions include Leadership Committee, Student Affairs Committee, and External Affairs Committee members. Active members in good academic standing (cumulative GPA: 2.0) are eligible to be nominated for committee membership. Nominees need not be present to accept the nomination. Nominations must be made by paid members and nominees must be paid active members. Members may nominate themselves. In order to be considered, nominations must be seconded. The order of nomination shall be the same as the order of the committee members on this constitution.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) would like us to hike up to the “C” with them. It’s the perfect time in the morning to go out and exercise for the day and get a better view of Riverside. Come and meet students from other organizations and make it fun.

As it is expected, SHPE will be holding its annual Bowling Tournament on Thursday, May 6th, 2010 at 8:30PM in Brunswick, Moreno Valley.

Feel ready for the challenge? Come and represent your BCOE student organization and show us your bowling skills.

Going just for fun? Get ready because we will also be bowling just for fun.  Invite your friends and come have a good time!

Please spread the word and let’s make this bowling tournament a unique one.

Tickets are $10 dollars per person and include bowling shoes and a 2-hour bowling time. It is highly recommended that you buy the tickets ahead of time to assure your spot and also to reserve enough lanes for everyone. The tournament will be held separately to give the opportunity to play for others as well. For those of you who have been here before, we will be following the same format of the night.

Bowling at Brunswick is fun at its best. There’s something for everyone – bowling, billiards, video games. It’s a great way to get out, cut loose and grab some smiles.

WHEN: TUESDAY, APRIL 23RD, 2010

TIME: 12:30-1:30 PM

WHERE: HUB 302

It’s a one-day, fun and informative event that will help you decide what STEM field is best for you. You’ll have an opportunity to tour the Bourns College of Engineering and College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences labs, check out STEM student organizations, speak with faculty and hang out with other prospective students during lunch.

We will be tabling at STEM Transfer Friday in order to encourage Community College students to transfer to UCR. We expect about 200 prospecting students to arrive, and we’d like to share our spirit of engineering student organizations to them at this event.

Wear your SHPE shirts and prepare to answer a lot of questions.

We’re still waiting for some issues to be fixed with this fundraiser and we hope we can do it, but there are chances that we may not be able to do it. So don’t be disappointed in case we cannot do it. Hope you understand there is a lot involved with food selling.

But you will be updated as more news come in.
