Where to buy books
Not at the book store! Books are so overpriced at the bookstore, it isn’t funny. I’ve found books through friends with $100 differences. Heck, some people even let you borrow the book! When no one has the book, I usually go to Amazon, Half.com, Google, and even Ebay!

How do I find people with my book at my school?

Easiest way is to try and post it on the MySpace Forums for your specific university. Same with Facebook. Someone is bound to want to get rid of that book.

Alternatives?

Buy the international edition! Many books offer a cheaper international edition text book, same material, simply distributed in a different country. You may find copies on Amazon, Half, or anywhere else.

iHaveThatBook.com

Clever new website where you sign up, and can see people in your university who want to get rid of their books! Check it out IHaveThatBook!.

http://www.freetechbooks.com

Want to learn C++, C, Java, C#, Python, and more? Look no further! FreeTechBookshas hundreds of books on all your Computer Science related material.

Rent textbooks online!

Haven’t tried it myself but looks like a neat idea. Link is Chegg.com. If anyone tries it please tell me how it went!

This is a great resource. You can get answers with detailed solutions so you can learn the material. Quizzes, and extra material are available as well. You have access to even numbered problems for certain math, physics books, etc. You may pay to access all material. Either way its a great resource!
