Forget about pc gamepads

Why not use your ps2 game pads you should have laying around and hook them up to your computer? It’s relatively easy so don’t worry, it isn’t complicated at all. Took me about five minutes to set it up once I got everything.

You can also get dancepads to play Stepmania . Game similar to DDR. Works like a charm!

Does it really work?

Works fine for me, I simply connect either a ps2 controller or dance pad and I’m good to go.

So where do I get this stuff?

I bought 2 dance pads on eBay for $20 including shipping and the dual shooter for less than $20 on it as well.

If you don’t want to hassle with ebay you can try buying the dual shooter here.

You can also buy the dance pads at Game Stop, EBGames, and other popular retailers. They have to be for the ps2, since the dual shooter only connects these peripherals to your pc.

If you have trouble finding some, hit me up and I’ll gladly help you out.

Vista Service Pack 1 is here!

Finally, the service pack has arrived. I’ll point out a few features I’ve noticed and wanted to happen. This should be something all Vista users should definitely download!

*Made the OS more stable (So no more bugging out hopefully???)
*Decrease in cpu use (not significant…but enough to make my laptop have 20-30mins more battery life)
*Improves logon response as well as hibernation and stand by modes
*Improves wireless connectivity
*Calculates the time to move files better than before (Would calculate about ~8 days to transfer 40gigs before…ridiculous)
*Improves transfer of files from one folder to another
*Check out the rest of the updates & download it here.

Overview

I’ve tried it out for a bit, not long enough to know if it has had great improvements. So far I noticed about a 10% cpu use decrease when nothing is running, which is better. I’ll get back to you guys as soon as I find out if the changes are notable. Meanwhile, download it here!

Future peek

Apparently XP will also have a 3rd service pack pretty soon. Can’t wait for that one to arrive!

Excerpt from DistroWatch:

“Linux Mint is one of the surprise packages of the past year. Originally launched as a variant of Ubuntu with integrated media codecs, it has now developed into one of the most user-friendly distributions on the market – complete with a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, a web-based package installation interface, and a number of different editions. Perhaps most importantly, this is one project where the developers and users are in constant interaction, resulting in dramatic, user-driven improvements with every new release.”

Why is LinuxMint a good alternative?

Its community driven…see something asked on the forums, you might see it on the next version

Comes with a friendly desktop, and menus

Where can I get LinuxMint?

Get LinuxMint here.

Is it free?

Of course! Pretty soon I’ll probably right a tutorial on how to install and remove such distros.

Software for free is good? Many people think by a software being free it must be of low quality and are stressed out by trying to find out cheap solutions. Well, think again! Some of this software may be the best on the net since most of these programs such as Winamp are community based. In other words, many of its updated features are from popular demand from the users!

In the following page I posted many essential computer programs that are the equivalent to expensive software on the net! I’m going to make a detailed list of all the following:

What would I post?

Document Tools, PDF Tools, etc

Media Players

Office Programs, Word, Excel, etc

Instant Messaging Programs

Internet Browsers

Security Programs, Anti-Virus…

Basically everything your computer should have!

Anti-Virus Protection for Free
This anti-virus is easy to use, and compact. In other words, it doesn’t use up heavy resources as Norton AntiVirus, or those other pesky antivirus that bog down your system. It automatically updates its database whenever you log on to the internet so you are always protected. Highly recommended.
